The Sail Parry Sound Race Team is a competitive sports team reflecting Sail Parry Sound’s continued focus on training excellence.
The school encourages participation from CANSail 3 sailors and up at Sail Parry Sound Sailing School, for the love of the sport and with the objective of increasing knowledge of competitive sailing in the Parry Sound area and Ontario at large. Every sailor invited to be on the team is chosen not only on the basis of skill, but also for his or her maturity.
Each summer, competitive coed teams from Sail Parry Sound Sailing School, in the Ontario Sailing district of Sail Canada, are travelling around the province to race in regattas.

What is a regatta?
A regatta is a series of races.
Although regattas are typically amateur competitions, they are structured events, with comprehensive rules describing the schedule and procedures of the event.
Regattas may be organized as championships for a particular area or type of boat such as the 420 and Laser, but are often held just for the joy of competition, camaraderie, and general development of the sport.
Sailing race events usually last more than one day, with a social schedule for the competitors and families or guests. Regattas may be hosted by a yacht club, sailing association, or even a community or some other organization.
Regatta participation
Regattas are chosen in advance for the Sail Parry Sound Race Team’s travel plans; a schedule is distributed at the beginning of the season, with other details of the arrangements. Volunteer parental support is essential to the success of the team.
Parental involvement is essential to the success of the program:
The Race Coach is not permitted to transport team members. Parent volunteers are needed for driving and towing, and at least one duty parent on shore with a cellphone is required during the racing.

Register immediately for regattas: It is advisable, and courteous to the host club, to register and to pay for regattas well in advance. Generally this can be done online. The Notice of Race from the host club will inform you, for example, whether food is included in the registration, may offer suggestions about accommodation, and will detail the event and the costs.
Skippers and crew and sail numbers for the Sail Parry Sound Race Team will be determined within the first two weeks of Race Team training, so you will have all information required for early registration.
What to bring: Parents should coordinate with the race coach, so the coach can provide the team on-water with ample water and snacks to keep them energized. Team members are expected to bring PFDs, sun screen, sunglasses and other supplies needed to perform at optimum levels.
Remember you must be enrolled in sailing school the week you participate in any regatta, and regatta fees are in addition to sailing school registration fees, payable before your participation can be confirmed.
